What do you need before you start?
Less than you'd think. Composerie works with the store and the products you already have.
- A Shopify store, on any plan
- One product you'd like to personalize
- A way to print: a print-on-demand partner or your own printer (you can decide this later)
1. Install
Find Composerie in the Shopify App Store and add it to your store. You approve it once, the way you would any Shopify app, and you're in. Nothing changes on your storefront yet; your customers see exactly what they saw before.
2. Make a product personalizable
Open one of your products in the Design Studio and place the fields your customers get to change: a name, a photo, a date, a whole star map. You set the fonts, the colors and the boundaries. Customers play inside the lines you draw.
3. Publish
One click puts the personalizable version on your live product page, in your own theme and layout. A Personalize button appears next to Add to cart; everything else stays put. Change your mind and unpublish just as fast.
4. A customer designs
A shopper types a name, uploads a photo or picks a date, and watches your product update live before they buy. The preview they approve is the design that gets printed. Then they add it to the cart like any other item.
5. The file arrives
The order lands in Shopify as normal, with one addition: the file your printer needs, attached and ready to produce. Route it to Printful, Printify or MerchOne when you are ready, or download it and print it yourself.
Questions, answered
How long does setup take?
Plan for an afternoon. Installing takes a few minutes; the rest is designing your first product, and that takes as long as you want it to. A single text field on an existing product is the fastest place to start.
Do I need a developer or any code?
No. Every step happens in your Shopify admin or the Composerie dashboard, with buttons and live previews. If you can edit a product in Shopify, you can do all five steps yourself.
Can I use the products already in my store?
Yes, that's the normal path. You pick an existing product and add personalization on top; your prices, variants and inventory stay exactly as they are.
Does Composerie work outside Shopify?
Not yet. Composerie is for Shopify only, for now. Other platforms are on the roadmap, but if your store runs somewhere else we can't help you today.
